Building a standardized and disciplined methodology
The Operational Excellence (OE) Program Office is currently collaborating with the following UC Berkeley program offices and departments to aggregate and standardize best practices for project management across campus: Technology Program Office (TPO); Student Affairs Information Technology; Education Technology Services; Learning + Organizational Development; and Office of Planning and Analysis. Currently, each office employs somewhat different methodologies for organizing and managing resources to complete projects within a defined scope, timeline, and budget. The Project Management Work Group is in the process of integrating the best tools and resources for delivering consistently excellent project outcomes.
This work group initiative evolved from the joint expertise of the OE Program Office and the TPO, who have employed rigorous methodology to support project managers throughout the project lifecycle—from the initial discussion to the project initiation through the final delivery, project closure, and transition to operations.
UC Berkeley Project Management Templates
Below we list the resources that currently comprise the disciplined approach to program management for all OE Program projects. The templates are provided in an editable form (as well as in PDFs), so you can customize them to meet specific needs; also available for download are guides that promote success for campus project teams.
We encourage you to check back frequently as the Project Management Work Group will be generating a new set of tools and resources that reflect the shared expertise of our campus’ project management professionals.
