Vice Chancellor Marc Fisher has announced the appointment of Russell "Russ" Chung as  UC Berkeley's new Chief Procurement Officer. Russ brings extensive experience in procurement, contract management, strategic sourcing, e-procurement, and purchasing team management in both corporate and higher education settings to his new position.

Professor Maximilian Auffhammer has accepted an appointment as the Regional Associate Dean for the CSS Regional Service Center serving the Divisions of Arts and Humanities, Social Sciences, Undergraduate Studies, and affiliated Organized Research Units. Professor Auffhammer is the George Pardee Jr. Professor of International Sustainable Development and a Professor in the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics and the International and Area Studies Program.

Chancellor Carol Christ told a group of UC Berkeley staff members on Friday that the school needs to do a better job of making them feel part of a community on campus.

Speaking to members of the Berkeley Staff Assembly during its annual “Chancellor’s Chat” forum, Christ laid out her plans to raise revenue, address a continued budget deficit, improve morale and better connect with the school’s 10,000 staff members.
